A New Year, A Smaller Footprint: How We Ship Carbon-Neutral

As we head into 2026, we’ve been looking back at the parts of the job that make us feel good about the way we do business. We do the best we can to create and ship products in ways that benefit both our customers and the environment. And one of the initiatives we are most proud of, the Kermit to our Frog, is our carbon-neutral shipping.

Since March of 2024, we’ve been covering the cost to offset every shipment we send, using Shopify’s Planet program to fund verified carbon removal. In 2025 we launched the Tunnel Tray, which complicated our production process, and made us ask ourselves “how are we going to ensure we’re not accidentally killing a half acre of trees every time we want to give our loyal customers some sweet engineered Rivian swag?”

Our goal in 2026 is to track a complete calendar year and see what a single year of impact really looks like. We’ll be watching those numbers closely and sharing what we learn.

What the Shopify Planet Program Does

Most carbon-offset programs just plant trees. Trees are great. We love trees! We’ve planted our own. Unfortunately, they’re not always a short-term carbon fix and some never even get planted.

Planet partners with multiple agencies that offer a variety of important environmental services. Funding through partners like Grassroots Carbon, CarbonCure, and Pachama offers a mix of:

• Cutting-edge carbon removal technologies (the kind that suck carbon out of the air and store it underground)
• Forest restoration
• Grassland preservation
• And other verified, high-impact solutions

This is real money going toward real projects, not some green sticker feel-goodery…but we do like the badge! And voting stickers.

Our Impact Since Joining

Here’s what Interrobang has contributed since we enrolled:

• 1,340 carbon-neutral shipments
• 2,759,369 km of shipping distance covered
• $3,523 invested in verified carbon removal
• 24 tonnes of CO₂ removed from the atmosphere

This is the equivalent to:

• Charging 2.9 million smartphones
• Driving 96,758 km in a gas-powered car
• Burning 10,052 liters of gasoline

Those numbers cover from March 2024 through the end of 2025. We are excited to see them grow. Like any good RPG, numbers going up like this is very satisfying to witness. What’s even better is that this has a real-life impact.

What This Looks Like Behind the Scenes

Our budget lets us offset shipping for 100% of our orders, every single month working with the highest-impact tier. We do this because for us, it’s not only about offsetting emissions, it’s about building the kind of company we’d want to give our own money to.
