Helping a Rivian Owner Install Their Tonneau Cover During Taco Night

The DM That Hit During Dinner

"Hello. I'm trying to get my cover installed. Can you help?"

The message came in well after shop hours, right as Bill was getting a batch of carne asada ready for the grill. A customer was halfway through installing their Interrobang manual tonneau cover and had a few questions about the gasket orientation and getting the side rails into place. While dinner heated up, Bill traded a few messages, looked over a couple of photos, and helped them get everything sorted. When the customer apologized for interrupting dinner, Bill laughed it off. The grill was still heating anyway.

Tacos, Tonneau Covers, and Small Businesses

That conversation drifted from install tips to dinner, and eventually to Bill offering up his carne asada recipe. It was an ordinary exchange, the sort that happens when the people building the products are also the ones answering questions. Conversations have a habit of wandering from tonneau covers to tacos around here. We barely even notice.

A few minutes later, the installation was finished, the cover was on the truck, and dinner made it to the table.

Small businesses have a way of blurring job titles. The person packing your order might also be testing a new prototype. The person updating the website may have spent the morning in the shop. If you've ever sent us a message, there's a good chance one of us answered and then jumped right back into everything else that keeps Interrobang moving.

That's simply how we operate. We all wear a lot of hats, and helping customers is one of them. On this particular evening, Bill happened to answer an install question between seasoning steak and lighting the grill. Tomorrow it might be someone assembling tonneau covers, packing shipments, or working through the next prototype. Those jobs have a habit of overlapping at our shop.
